Accounts Assistant

Due to continued demand for our award winning legal services and ongoing organic growth  we are looking to add to our financial team to support the firms operations.  This is a part time role with  between 21-25 hours a week required which could either be 3 full days at 7 hours per day or 5 days at 5 hours a day but we are able to be flexible around how the hours look in practice.  The role will be based in our Runcorn office but following completion of probationary period will include the ability to work form home.

General Responsibilities:

  • Daily banking and bank reconciliations.
  • BACS and CHAPS payments.
  • Facilitating inter-account transfers.
  • Process client payment.
  • Monitor bank accounts for incoming client funds and bank transfers.
  • Handling general queries from fee earners and auditors.
  • Process invoices (internal and purchase ledger) and check completion statements.
  • Ensuring compliance with SAR, money laundering and VAT regulation.
  • Assist with credit control duties when needed.
  • Preparation of weekly payment runs and dealing with suppliers as appropriate.
  • Processing of expenses and company credit card transactions.
  • Handling searches including HMLR / HMCTS / Companies house etc.
  • Resolving ledger queries and sundry transaction requests.
  • Assisting the finance manager with projects that may include client residual balances and routine accounts duties.

The role requires the following: -

  • Good understanding of Solicitors SRA Account Rules.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required.
  • Demonstrate reliability, organisation and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Has a strong attention to detail and is able to work effectively under pressure.
  • This is a fast paced role and the ability to work under pressure, with accuracy is essential.
  • Being able to maintain confidentiality to our internal and external clients.

Desirable Skills:-

  • At least 2 year’s legal cashier experience.
  • Experience working with Leap and Xero.
  • IT proficient, especially in MS Excel.

  • Salary for this role is  £25,000 based on a full time position but note that this position  is 21-25 hours per week.
