A Day in the Life of a Conveyancing Paralegal

Victoria Boutle joined Bell Lamb & Joynson in March 2024 as a Conveyancing Paralegal. Now that she has had some time to settle into her new role, we caught up with her to see what a typical day looks like, working in the busy conveyancing department…

AM:

The day starts with a 25/30 min commute to work on the bus from Southport. It’s been a bit strange travelling to an office after many years of WFH! I arrive at the Maghull office at 8.30am each day. Once at the office its straight upstairs to get the kettle on and COFFEE! This allows me to then spend the next 20 mins or so catching up on emails, the internal chat and with Rachael and the team and to get an idea of what the day will bring. The morning is spent usually prioritising any completions for that day, reviewing any upcoming exchanges and making any call backs from the day before.

PM:

I usually have around 30 mins for lunch and grab something from 1 of the shops in the square before heading back to the office. Afternoons fly by with ongoing completions of the day, prepping for the next day and upcoming days completions and exchanges. Preparing accounts packs, dealing with enquiries, ordering searches, checking mortgage offers and chasing and updating clients and buyers and sellers solicitors.

I leave the office in time to head home to Southport on the bus at 5pm. The evenings consist of taking my little dog Winnie out for a walk and spending time with my daughters.
