Martha Clayton
Martha is the Head of Marketing at Bell Lamb & Joynson Solicitors, leading the firm’s marketing strategy, brand development, digital presence and client communications across all departments and office locations.
She joined Bell Lamb & Joynson in July 2024 as the firm’s first in-house marketing professional and was promoted to Head of Marketing in March 2026. Since joining the firm, Martha has played a key role in strengthening the firm’s digital presence, supporting its continued growth, and helping communicate the people-first values that sit at the heart of Bell Lamb & Joynson.
Originally from Cardiff, Martha moved to Liverpool to study Marketing at University before beginning her career within the property investment sector as a Portal Marketing Manager. Working in the buy-to-let property sector gave her an early understanding of the property industry, which now supports her work with Bell Lamb & Joynson’s award-winning Residential Conveyancing department.
Martha has always known she wanted to work in marketing after completing work experience at Legal & General while at school. During her placement, she became fascinated by the psychology behind advertising and consumer behaviour - a moment she credits as shaping the direction of her career.
At Bell Lamb & Joynson, Martha oversees a wide range of marketing activity including website management, social media strategy, PR, content creation, brand campaigns, events, internal communications and award submissions. She particularly enjoys the variety the role brings and the opportunity to continually learn across different areas of law and marketing.
She is especially passionate about creating clear, approachable content that helps make legal topics easier to understand and supports people during stressful or uncertain situations. Martha values the fact that no two days in marketing are ever the same.
Approach & Marketing Philosophy
Martha’s approach to marketing is creative, people-focused and highly strategic. She enjoys analysing major brand campaigns, understanding audience behaviour and finding new ways to strengthen client engagement and brand trust.
She believes the most effective legal marketing is clear, authentic and approachable — helping people feel informed and supported rather than overwhelmed by legal terminology.
Outside of Work
Outside of work, Martha has played netball since the age of seven and is a passionate reader who rarely goes anywhere without her Kindle. She also enjoys live music and concerts, particularly rap music, and despite being born and raised in Cardiff, somehow ended up as a lifelong Blackburn Rovers supporter thanks to her dad being from Blackburn.
A self-confessed cartoon fan, Martha has named all of her dogs after cartoon characters, including Penfold, Tigger and her current dog, Olive-Oil.
